One autumn day, long ago, I went with my mother and my aunt to the shopping centre to see the scary movie of the moment. After the movie had finished and we had strolled around the shopping centre, we went home.
Once in my bedroom, I put my PJs on and went to sleep because it was very late and I had to go to school the next morning.
Everything was fine, I was in my bed waiting for my mom to come and kiss me goodnight, like every night when I heard someone knocking at my bedroom door and trying to open it. I thought it was my mom so from my bed, I shouted that she had to push harder because the door of my room does not always work well.
I saw everything in slow motion: my door opened and who was standing there was not my mom, nor any member of my family, but nobody. Nobody was behind the opened door. I asked myself if the knocking I´d heard was real and who was the person who was trying to enter my room.
I started to feel that I wanted to cover myself with the sheets but I could not, I could not move. I did not know what was happening to me, what I did know was that the worst was just about to come…
The only thing I wanted to do at that moment was to get up and close the door but something in me was not right: my body was completely paralyzed. I could not scream, I could not speak, but I could hear and see everything around me.
Minutes later I began to hear some footsteps approaching which were sounding louder and louder. I felt them getting closer until I saw it. I saw the ghost I had seen in the movie, coming through the door trying to get to me.
Horrified I wanted to scream and cried for help but I could do nothing.
Then, it was inside my room. It was just the two of us looking at each other.
I was still unable to speak or move until I saw that the ghost wanted to attack me. At that, moment I could move my body and my voice came back so the first thing I did was scream ‘HELP!’ as loud as possible. My mother came quickly to my room, very scared by the scream she heard, she tried to calm me down and for the rest of the night, she slept with me.
I would love to say that the story ends there but once I closed my eyes, I could not fall asleep, because I felt that someone was watching me. My suspicions were correct: it was at the edge of my bed.
